A Few Words About Me

“The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.” (Ps 119.72)

Rachel teaches Biblical languages and the course “Jewish Background of the New Testament” at the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies. She loves teaching anything related to the Bible, especially its ancient languages because it combines her fascination with languages and her biggest passion, the “word of truth” (Ps 199.43). How better to enthuse students about the value of learning biblical languages than by exploring the depths and challenges of the inspired texts themselves? The international and inter-confessional flavor of the campus makes the classroom exchange all the more stimulating.

Education

Rachel holds degrees in Modern Languages (BSc), Theology (“license”, B.A.) and philosophy (“license”, B.A.). She has completed a European Masters in both of the latter disciplines. She is currently attached to a research unit associating religion and philosophy. Her personal focus is on biblical interpretation, with a special emphasis on Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) and 17th Century philosophy (Blaise Pascal).

Professional Experience

Rachel has over twenty years of teaching experience as well as over ten years teaching languages, eventually serving as Head of Languages in a private school. She has taught biblical languages and biblical studies in a variety of institutions and has worked as an editor, translator, and interpreter.
