King David Hotel

The King David Hotel (Hebrew: מלון המלך דוד) is one of Israel’s most luxurious and prestigious hotels.

 

Blending the past and old world refinement, the King David Hotel is unquestionably the most famous of all Jerusalem hotels.

The Hotel is located on King David Street in the center of Jerusalem, overlooking the Old City and Mount Zion.

It was built in the 1920s by Ezra Mosseri, a wealthy Egyptian Jewish Banker.

 

This magnificent Hotel has played a major role in Jerusalem and Israel’s History: from the struggle for statehood, through Independence War, the division of Jerusalem and the reunification.
In 1946, the southwestern corner of the hotel was blown up by the militant Zionist group named ” The Irgun”. 91 people died in the bombing.

During the years, many famous figures have visited the King David Hotel including Heads of State Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat, Prince Philip, his son Charles, actor Ben Kingsly, Muhammad Ali, President Bush, President Clinton and many more…

Today, the King David Hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
