The Beginning of Passion<\/strong>
\nThe grandfather of the school’s founders started from humble beginnings as an immigrant student, becoming a leading educator in the field of Hebrew language studies. Aharon Rosen\u2019s teaching methodology is considered to be a cornerstone of Hebrew teaching in Israel. Having immigrated to Israel as a young man, Rosen himself understood the difficulties of acquiring a second language, where as an adult the ability to express the simplest thought is suddenly a challenge.<\/p>\n

From Hebrew Learner to Teacher<\/strong>
\nBorn in Hungary in 1905, Rosen came to Israel in 1924 where he settled in Kfar Gideon in Northern Israel. It was here that he first became involved in teaching Hebrew, volunteering to organize Hebrew classes for the newer immigrants as waves of German immigrants made their way to Israel. Rosen\u2019s love of the language quickly made him a popular teacher, who sought to make his students\u2019 transition to Hebrew as smooth as possible, thereby easing the language barrier frustrations of his students.<\/p>\n

Excellence in Education<\/strong>
\nRosen\u2019s experience teaching Hebrew led him to create a highly successful, multi-stage teaching methodology, geared towards adults, which is still used by many teaching institutions today. His passion brought him the honor of being the first teacher invited by Edwin Samuel (2nd Viscount Samuel) to broadcast radio classes during the British Mandate. In the 1950s he was then offered a teaching position in the Hebrew University, where he later became the head of the Hebrew Department, a position he maintained till the end.<\/p>\n

Innovation: the Key to Success<\/strong>
\nThroughout his long and distinguished career, Aharon Rosen continually pursued excellence in Hebrew teaching. He published multiple textbooks introducing his innovative methodology, including his Thousand Words series which are recognized as the definitive Hebrew tuition text for immigrants and foreign students. Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this was a landmark text in Hebrew education and became a best seller. Rosen\u2019s many writings include theoretical works translated into seven languages, as well as numerous articles addressing specific problems in adult language instruction, such as See, Hear and Read for the tuition of dyslexic students. With his years of experience and dedication, the foundations of teaching Hebrew as a second language to adults would not be the same without the creativity of this passionate educator.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
